About us

Host family Carmen and Johannes Lukasser with their children Tobias and Tabea
As a privately run family business, the wildlife park is financed by the income from the sale of admission tickets, souvenirs and other stuff.
With your visit, you help to ensure that we can properly remunerate our employees for their hard work, provide our animals with the best possible care and attention all year round and continue to expand and improve. Constructive criticism helps us to continue to improve!

  • 1974

    In 1974, the Assling Wildlife Park was created on the Pustertal sun terrace under the management of engineer Rudolf Diemling and Vinzenz Lukasser. The idea came from a recommendation by experts who were analysing the area for economic opportunities.

  • 1994

    Markus Lukasser took over the Assling Wildlife Park in 1994. His main goal: natural and species-appropriate husbandry. The expansion and conversion of various facilities, as a prerequisite for the keeping and preservation of animal species, some of which are endangered, was also a concern of his.

  • Since 2018

    Since 2018, Carmen Lukasser and her husband Johannes have been looking after and managing the Assling Wildlife Park in the 3rd generation. In their endeavours to make the wildlife park even more attractive, it is not only the animal inhabitants that are of great concern to them. Playing in nature, gaining new knowledge and getting up close and personal with some of the animals should also be an experience for children and adults.
The Assling Wildlife Park covers 90,000 square metres of meadow and forest and is home to many native animal species. You can observe our animals and experience nature on a tour.

Forest playground & Grandfather´s model railway

With three play stations, a life-size marble run and a large playground at the highest point in the wildlife park, an attractive additional offer for visitors has been created that meets modern standards.
    The forest playground was realised as part of the LEADER project "Waldspielplatz Wildpark Assling".

    Grandfather´s model railway

    In the winter of 2004, our Grandpa Vize (* 1933) fulfilled one of his childhood dreams. At the age of 71 he built his own model railway here, which he then looked after and expanded for 15 years. Unfortunately, since the summer of 2019, his health has not allowed him to continue working on his project by himself, which is why he had to hand over supervision. Together with some “big” and “small” helpers, we try to keep Grandpa's dream alive.
